About our Outdoor Shower Kits
Q: How are the cedar panels made?
Are they rough both sides?
A: The cedar panels are all tongue and groove knotty cedar v-groove with a smooth face on inside and the standard rough board face on exterior which accepts paints and stains better!
Q: What should I expect with Cedar vs PVC Outdoor Showers?
A: For PVC (aka Azek), We use thick stocky PVC .5″ thick
unlike others who use .04″ …..for a durable strong enclosure that offers quality. Our PVC kits are built with solid materials and include weather resistant fasteners to withstand Mother Nature no matter where you are. Both our cedar and PVC kits are low maintenance and easy to clean.
For Cedar : Our cedar outdoor showers are hand crafted using Knotty Western Cedar. When using a natural wood product, some imperfections occur. It is the embodiment of the “Cape Cod” Outdoor Shower kit – rugged and real…while displaying the beauty of an all natural product.
Q: Does Cedar last for Outdoor Showers?
A: Yes! Cedar wood is actually the best wood to use for outdoor showers for many reasons and should last 25-40 years with some maintenance. If you want to preserve the bronze natural cedar color, we recommend Australian Timber Oil or the Behr line of Exterior Finishes

Q: I love your kits but I want to add a few things.
Can I alter mine?
A: We can adjust lengths depending on timing of the year! Kits can be bought a la carte too.
Please contact us with your request.
Delivery & Logistics
Q: Do you ship your outdoor showers to…?
A: Yes, we ship to most states and US/Canadian border crossing towns.
See our shipping details for more information.
Q: How long will delivery take?
A: Shipping of our outdoor shower stalls usually takes between 5 and 10 business days. However, depending upon season, location, and other factors, it may take longer. Our shipping carrier will contact you about scheduling delivery after placing your order. See all details on shipping here.
Q: What is your return policy?
A: All sales are final unless there are defects or shipping damages. Restocking fees may apply. * We rarely get returns as we work to insure you get exactly what you ordered ahead of time.
Q: Are your shower kits waterproof?
A: ….
(we have had that question!)
Installation & Assembly
Q: What tools do I need?
A: A screw gun and a level are the only tools needed. All fasteners and hardware are included. We recommend getting one other person to help assist (and keep you company)
Q: How do I secure an outdoor shower free standing model in very high wind area?
A: All kits start at about 500 pounds after assembly and hold their own. We have seen them easily stand up to 80-90mph winds! For areas of high wind on the open oceanfront, you can easily put a concrete footing in the ground like you would do for a deck. Then, connect concrete to a galvanized deck post fastener, with the fastener to the post.
Q: How do you install / assemble these?
Do you have instructions?
A: Yes, please see our Installation page for the guides.
We offer a “2 Minute Drill” video as a quick reference!
Also, we have installation guides for all our shower kit models, as well as our slat roof.
Q: How do I Protect the Posts… above or below ground?
A: While Cedar is very durable, there are things you can do to prevent decay when the ground is involved.
For above ground we recommend Simpson Strong Tie, post bases. Learn more here: https://www.strongtie.com/products which can be found on Amazon.
For below ground, we recommend the sleeves in Post Protector system found here https://www.postprotector.com/
Q: Should I worry about inconsistency / “cracks” in cedar posts?
A: Not at all. “Checking” happens when cedar dries, the exterior surface (sapwood) shrinks quicker than the inner surface (heartwood). The result is the familiar “check” which is neither a split nor a crack.
All of posts have heartwood in the center, which helps aid in the strength and longevity of our materials. Checking will not pass through the heartwood, so there is no fear of the material splitting in half or subverting the structural integrity.
Q: What about mounting?
How do I mount posts to the house?
A: Our House Mount Kits are screwed to the back of the house. With extra posts against the house, you can use angle brackets with 2-3″ screws.
Free Standing Kits are pretty heavy and solid when assembled and typically don’t move once in place. If the wind is strong in your spot, you can use an angle bracket to secure the posts to your deck floor.
Q: How long do these kits take to put up?
A: Outdoor Shower Kit installations typically only take between 2 to 4 hours and are designed to be easy to assemble with only a few tools. We recommend one other person to help assist.
Q: Can I install a bench for the Standard Kit?
A: Yes, our outdoor shower cedar benches are designed to work with all outdoor shower styles, and can be used as a shelf as well. Instructions are found on the product page.
Finishing Touches
Q: How do I keep the Cedar models “new” looking?
A: Some often do not put any stain or oil, and that will allow the shower to turn a natural Cape Cod gray.
If you want to preserve the bronze natural cedar color, we recommend Australian Timber Oil or the Behr line of Exterior Finishes
Q: What about the ground and drainage?
What ideas do you suggest?
A: We offer a cedar floor that is designed with this in mind. You can also use stone pavers.
Regarding drainage, see our write up here.
each property is different but generally if you don’t have much soil, we recommend items like marble chips or beach pebbles under the cedar floor. Also, some opt for a “french drain” which is a bit more elaborate.
Q: What if I need help with the kit after I get it?
A: If something comes up with your kit, please call us. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions about which kit to buy – your satisfaction is our #1 priority!
Q: How do I clean mold from my cedar shower kit?
A: Mold can be cleaned from your cedar shower kit using products you probably already have on hand! Using a scrub brush, mix 1/3 cup laundry detergent with one gallon of water. A deck cleaner may also be added if the mold has stained the wood.
Another great option is white vinegar mixed with equal parts water. Add this mixture to a spray bottle to use as an anti-mildew spray.
You may also use one cup of baking soda mixed with one gallon on warm water to scrub away those mold stains using a broom or stiff bristle brush. Rinse with your garden hose (or hand-held shower sprayer) when done.
